Rosie, Roseate Spoonbill, Giclee Print, Original Fine Art Watercolor Painting
Roseate Spoonbills are making a big comeback here on Hilton Head Island, SC. The reason for this is they love freshwater and saltwater wetlands, mangroves, forested swamps, rivers, bays, estuaries, mudflats, and lagoons, of which we have many. Roseate spoonbills eat small fish, crustaceans, aquatic insects, amphibians, slugs, and snails. The roseate spoonbill's pink color comes from the carotenoid pigment canthaxanthin in its diet, similar to the American flamingo. The roseate spoonbill is part of the ibis and spoonbill family
The background is not painted and some photo's took on a pink glow, I think from the painting itself. I used 300 lb hot press Arches watercolor paper along with Winsor & Newton paints. We only use high quality archival paper. Fine art Giclee prints come in heavyweight premium grade professional 100% polar matte (acid free, special coated, non-yellowing) paper, using Canon archival pigment inks designated to last 100+ years. With proper care, prints will last a lifetime.
Be sure to select size and style appropriately, these are available as print only or with a white matte and backerboard.
Prints are signed by the artist Janice Wilson and shipped priority mail in a protective plastic sleeve and heavy duty mailing envelope.
