About the Artist
Janice Wilson has been painting with watercolors from a very early age, when her parents enrolled her in her first art class at the age of 10. Living in Maine most of her life, she certainly drew inspiration from artists like Wyeth and Homer and their captures of the rugged coast of Maine. Since that time she's taken many classes to hone her abilities, painting many commission pieces while raising a family and working in corporate America.
Janice and her husband recently retired and are now full time Hilton Head Island residents. Low country subjects are the majority of Janice's current paintings, including marshes, birds, oysters, beach/ocean themes. She only uses high quality Arches Watercolor Paper, 300 lb and Winsor & Newton Watercolor Paints. Her artwork can be seen around the Island including the Art League Gallery, Sea Pines Community Center and the Hilton Head Plantation Community House, and at many local art shows and festivals.
