I'm still obsessed with painting Blue Herons and why not!!! 

It’s December and the Blue Herons are in full breeding plumage.

This handsome fellow was spotted in Bluffton, SC by Audubon Society member and I was given permission to paint him.

Loving the white tuffed hair and redder than normal neck. The feathered details are so beautiful!

Opt to go with dark background as captured by photographer

Original Painted on 300 lb Arches Hot Press Paper, Winsor Newton Paints and my new favorite Silver Black Velvet Oval and Round brushes.
