Blue Heron in Spartina Grass I, Original Fine Art Watercolor Painting

Inspired by the graceful Great Blue Herons that wander among the spartina grasses of Hilton Head Island, Spartina Watch I & II capture a familiar and beautiful sight in the Low country marsh.

I have always been drawn to the quiet elegance of these remarkable birds - the way they move slowly through the grasses, then pause, perfectly still, watching the marsh around them.  I wanted those paintings to capture that peaceful moment and the soft, natural beauty of the place I call home.

Created over seven months, Spartina Watch I & (sold separately) II, these original watercolors were painted as companion pieces, each measuring 22 x 30 on 300 lb. Arches bright white watercolor paper.  Together they create a striking diptych, while each painting is equally beautiful displayed on this own.
